Half of Black Hawk College students receive some financial assistance from grants, scholarships, loans and/or student employment. The Financial Aid Office can assist you in applying for federal, state and institutional funds to help meet your educational costs.

What Happens Next?
Log into myBlackHawk
Once you have been admitted to Black Hawk College, you will have access to myBlackHawk, a secure student site that allows you to check email, register and pay for courses, view student records, get college announcements, and view financial aid information.
The Financial Aid Office will communicate with students through their BHC email only.
All students are assigned an email account at mymail.bhc.edu which becomes the official vehicle for communication from the college. The email account is accessed through myBlackHawk.
Finish Financial Aid Day
All applications and documents should be received by Finish Financial Aid Day. Applying by these dates allows time for processing. After Finish Financial Aid Day, you will need to pay cash or set up payment arrangements in the Bursar’s Office. Finish Financial Aid Day Deadlines:

How do you receive your aid?
You can buy your books and supplies in the BHC bookstores if you have aid remaining after tuition has been applied to your account. The bookstores announce purchasing dates each semester.
Paying your aid
Financial aid is paid to your account after the add/drop period, which ends on the tenth day of the semester. Financial aid will be based on the tenth day enrollment – courses added after the tenth day will not be eligible for financial aid.

Any remaining balance of financial aid after tuition and book charges have been deducted will be refunded. Title IV financial aid credit balances will be refunded within 14 days after the add/drop period. Refunds are disbursed from the Bursar’s Office.

Financial aid is first applied to your account to pay tuition charges. You may view your personal information online by accessing your myBlackHawk account.
