Loans

All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) AND enroll in at least six credit hours.

Complete these steps:

1. Entrance Counseling. First time borrowers only. (Allow 30 minutes.)

2. Master Promissory Note (MPN). First time borrowers only.

3. Black Hawk College Loan Application.

Students who borrowed at another college – first loan at Black Hawk College:

4. Request ALL prior college transcripts to be sent to Enrollment Services for evaluation to determine loan grade level and eligibility.

NOTE: Processing takes two weeks. It can take three or more weeks during peak registration times. Loans will be processed in order of receipt.

You will receive a message to your BHC email when your loan is complete – or if additional information is needed for processing.

Parent PLUS Loan

Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loans) are federal loans that parents with good credit histories may borrow to help pay the educational expenses of an undergraduate student enrolled in at least six credit hours per semester.
