Payment Policies

Students are responsible for taking care of all financial obligations by the end of each semester, which may include, but not limited to, tuition and fees, late payment fees, parking fines, library fines and bookstore charges.

Past due accounts
If there is a balance due, a hold will be placed on the student’s account and the student will be unable to do the following:

  • Enroll in classes.
  • Receive transcripts.
  • Review grade reports.
  • Receive diploma or certificate.

Accounts with past due balances may be subject to referral to either of the following external collection agencies, All Tran, Inc. or L&M Accounts, Inc. If sent to collection, students are responsible for payment of any and all collection and attorney fees incurred.

Late fees
Black Hawk College will assess a late fee of $25 to all past due accounts. Students participating in the deferred payment plan will also be assessed a late fee after each late scheduled payment.

Enrollment cancellation due to non-payment
Students may be dropped from classes if payment in full is not made by the due date or if a promissory note is not in place.

Class withdrawal and possible repayment for financial aid recipients
Students may be required to return a portion of the federal financial aid they’ve been awarded after withdrawing from classes during a semester. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.

Parking permits and parking fines
Important information regarding payments for parking permits and/or fines is available here.

College bookstore charges
Textbook rentals are available at both the Quad-Cities Campus (Hawk’s Hub) and East Campus bookstores. If textbooks/materials are not returned by the rental return date, Black Hawk College will place a hold on the student’s account until such a time as the fines are paid or resolution is made with the bookstore. In turn, the student will be unable to do the following while their account is on hold:

  • Enroll in classes.
  • Receive transcripts.
  • Review grade reports.
  • Receive diploma or certificate.
