Congrats to Scholastic Bowl winners Mercer County, Princeville, Annawan, ROWVA high schools

golden trophy on pile of books in front of blackboardBlack Hawk College East Campus hosted the 2024 Lincoln Trail Conference Scholastic Bowl Meet on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The event pits students from different high schools against each other to answer questions from a variety of categories, such as history, literature, mathematics, music and science.

Eleven high school teams in the Lincoln Trail Conference competed in nine, 45-minute rounds.

Out of 77 competitors, the Top 10 individual scorers were:

  • 1st – Dominic Simpson, Mercer County High School
  • 2nd – Zach Hopkins, Knoxville High School
  • 3rd – Ravin Morey, Annawan High School
  • 4th – TIE – Mia Merkel, Galva High School and Trevor Kernan, Mercer County High School
  • 6th – Gabe Wilfoy, AlWood High School
  • 7th – Aidan Nolan, ROWVA High School
  • 8th – Logan Meehan, Mercer County High School
  • 9th – Alivia Lempke, Wethersfield High School
  • 10th – TIE – Chloe Blunier, Princeville High School and Caleb Christianson, Princeville High School

The Top 4 teams were:

  • 1st place/Conference Champions – Mercer County High School
  • 2nd place – Princeville High School
  • 3rd place – Annawan High School
  • 4th place – ROWVA High School

Other participating schools were AlWood, Cambridge, Galva, Knoxville, United, West Central and Wethersfield.

BHC faculty members Andrew Mansheim and Georgjean Pitsoulakis organized and planned the event.
