BHC students elect Jonwyn Ayres new student trustee

headshot of Jonwyn AyresJonwyn Ayres of Medford, OR, is the new student trustee on the Black Hawk College Board of Trustees. She was seated at the board’s April 27, 2023, meeting and will serve until April 2024.

She is a second-year student at the college’s East Campus near Kewanee and was elected by her peers to represent them on the board.

“I am ready to encourage, empower, and connect Black Hawk leaders with their students through this unique opportunity,” Ayres said.

“I will strive to create an encouraging environment with every function, meeting, and conversation I am a part of,” she said.

Ayres is a member of the BHC Honors Program, secretary of the Agribusiness Club and a member of the Livestock Judging Team. In high school she was state president of the Oregon Junior Angus Association and state secretary for the Oregon FFA.

After completing her Associate in Science degree, Ayres plans to pursue a law degree. Her goal is to become an agricultural attorney and have a purebred cattle operation on the side.
