Livestock Judging Team wins Tulsa State Fair contest

5 people seated with awards and 13 people standingCongratulations to the Black Hawk College Livestock Judging Team for winning the Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest at the Tulsa State Fair!

The sophomore team took first place out of 25 teams with 4,207 points, beating the second-place team by 58 points.

Team members also competed individually against students from Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Out of 147 competitors, Ty Drach of Pontiac, IL, came in 3rd overall and Dillon Sheiss of Larwill, IN, came in 5th overall.

Drach also took 2nd in Sheep & Goats, 4th in Reasons and 7th in Cattle. Sheiss also took 1st in Hogs, 4th in Sheep & Goats and 6th in Reasons.

  • Emma Dunn of Tipton, IN – 6th overall and 7th in Hogs
  • Kelly Spicer of Woodbine, MD – 9th overall and 8th in Cattle
  • Robby Burchett of Jonesville, VA – 8th in Hogs
