The Surgical Technology AAS program is a dynamic pathway for students seeking a hands-on role in the operating room. New students applying to Black Hawk College should select the General Occupational and Technical Studies (GOTS) AAS until such time as they have been officially accepted by the department into this program.
Surgical Technology applications will be accepted until March 31, 2026. The admission process will be completed by the end of May 2026. Applications submitted after March 31, will be reviewed to fill any remaining spots after the first set of applications is processed. As the number of new students is limited to the availability of clinical sites, not all applicants will be admitted.

Abigail Swidergal, associate professor in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program, received the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association’s first-ever Occupational Therapy Assistant/Occupational Therapist (OTA/OT) Partnership Award at the group’s annual conference.
