Why Assistant Teaching

The Assistant Teacher Certificate is designed to prepare individuals to be teachers in a child care center and/or preschool setting. The certificate will provide 18 hours credit toward an A.A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education as well as the coursework to equal a Gateways Level 2 credential.

Assistant Teacher Admission Requirements

While there is not an application to the early child childhood programs, students are required to:

  • Have appropriate placement scores through placement testing (SAT/ACT or Accuplacer) or previous college credits.
  • Successfully document and meet all health and background checks required by academic programs and/or courses.
