Since 1987, Professor Maria “Conchita” Lucas-Murillo has been part of the Black Hawk College team. Although she primarily teaches Spanish, she has also taught French and Italian and is fluent in German and English.

Black Hawk College kicked off its 80th anniversary with an ‘80s-themed celebration and introduction of the college’s new mascot.

Black Hawk College is celebrating National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week Sept. 13-19. The college began serving adult education learners on July 1, 1969.

All Black Hawk College facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day.

Students and employees – Help name the new BHC mascot!

Three years after Black Hawk College (BHC) and Mockingbird Theatre Company’s first partnership performance, the duo is back to collaborate on Arthur Miller’s 1949 capitalist and social-class Broadway production “Death of a Salesman,” performing in the BHC Theatre on Aug. 20-22 and 27-29. 

Nominating petitions and other election materials for the 2027 Black Hawk College Board of Trustees election may be picked up at either BHC campus beginning Tuesday, Aug. 25.

This year, 513 students were enrolled into Professional and Continuing Education’s (PaCE) College for Kids (CFK) between July 20-24. Sixth through ninth graders who placed in the 90th percentile on the MAP or ISASP tests had the opportunity to choose three out of 37 classes to explore new interests or deepen their passions and knowledge.
