To keep up with a changing agriculture industry, the Agriculture Department offers advanced training in career & transfer programs.

The livestock judging team at Black Hawk College provides students with the opportunity to develop skills in evaluating and ranking livestock based on industry standards. Team members learn to assess various animals, including cattle, sheep, swine and goats, for traits such as structure, performance and overall quality.

The horse judging team gives students the opportunity to refine skills in evaluating horse conformation, movement and performance across different disciplines. Competitions challenge members to rank horses within a class, defend their decisions through oral presentations, and gain a deeper appreciation for equine anatomy and behavior.
