Why Food Protection

The Food Protection Manager Certificate course caters perfectly to those aiming for certification in Food Protection Management for Illinois and Iowa. Through ServSafe, which boasts ANSI-CFP accreditation, students can meet both the class and exam requirements for this vital certification. Upon completion of the course, a paper exam awaits, delivering results from ServSafe within 10 business days. Once successfully completing the exam, students are awarded a certification valid for five years, ensuring a solid foundation for a career in food safety management.

Class will break for a 30-minute lunch on your own. You must bring a current photo ID to take the exam.

ServSafe Manager Book

Students have the option of purchasing the ServSafe Manager Book at the Outreach Center for $59. The book is available in English and Spanish and can be purchased before class.  Book sales are final – no refunds allowed.

Retesting for the Food Protection Manager Certification

If you need to retest, call us to register for a test session at 309-796-8223. If it has been more than six months since you last took the class, you will need to register for the class again.

ServSafe’s Retest Policy

You may take the exam twice within a 30-day period, if necessary. If a third attempt is required, you must wait at least 60-days from your last attempt. No more than four attempts are allowed in the 12-month period.
