No matter what form the cancer came in, it is extremely important to provide support to those who are diagnosed. Here are several ways to offer your support on or off campus.

Listen

When your friends or family need a listening ear, try your best to give your undivided attention.

Include them

Don’t be afraid or treat someone differently than before. Invite them to gatherings and one-on-one meetings. Remember to have time with one another!

Learn about cancer

Educate yourself on the cancer your friend or family has been diagnosed with. When getting checkups, ask if your doctor can give you tips on how to provide support for a cancer patient.

Ask if they need assistance throughout

Don’t be afraid to directly ask the friend or family member if they are needing help. Provide support in any way possible to make their diagnosis or treatment process all the more easier.

You can also call 211 to find out if help is available in your area.
