Recipe
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs sirloin beef or steak
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger (optional)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 2 tbsp avocado oil (avocado oil is best for this recipe due to its high smoke point, but feel free to use any oil you prefer)
- 1 bunch asparagus (approximately 1 lb)
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced (I used white button mushrooms, but feel free to use any variety you prefer) (optional)
- ABC Panda Sauce or ABC Sweet Soy Sauce
Instructions
Thinly slice the beef or steak into strips and place them in a bowl. Set aside.
In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and ginger. Whisk together, then sprinkle the mixture over the steak. Use tongs to toss the steak, ensuring it is evenly coated.
Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat with the oil in the pan. Once hot (you can sprinkle a bit of water into the pan—if it sizzles, it’s ready), add the mashed garlic cloves and onions to the oil. Sauté until fragrant, then add the beef/steak. Let any moisture evaporate, then cook the beef for about 2-3 minutes per side, depending on how thick the slices are. Aim for a nice sear.
Transfer the cooked beef to a plate and add the asparagus and mushrooms to the pan. Allow the mushrooms to release their moisture and sauté until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables, then pour the ABC sauce into the hot pan. The sauce should begin to bubble and reduce, which will take about 3-5 minutes.
Once the sauce has thickened enough to coat a spoon, continue to cook for another 3 minutes to ensure everything is evenly coated.
(Optional) Garnish with chopped green onions.
This dish is delicious on its own or served with cauliflower or rice. Enjoy!
