Brand Architecture

The house brand architecture used by Black Hawk College is a single master brand that includes sub-brands. The sub-brands leverage the strength of the House Brand and are aimed at easily identified targeted markets.

Sub-brands

The sub-brands are not intended to have an independent identity from the College. The use of sub-brand logos or other visual images will be limited and in a way as to not create confusion with the master brand.

Sub-brands may be created for programs, departments or other areas of the College by inserting a line under the Identifier and adding the program, department or other name under the line.

College Seal

It is not intended that the College Seal be used for general marketing and public relations purposes. The College Seal will be used by the President’s Office and the Board of Trustees Chair for formal communication only. This includes, for example, commencement and other formal addresses made by the president. It is not intended to be used for general marketing purposes except for academic excellence programs such as the Presidential Scholars and HONORS programs. It will not be used as a watermark on college letterhead or other promotional materials.

Gold will be the primary color used to present the College Seal. Black will be the secondary color when appropriate. The Seal should always be presented in a respectful way and never used for unapproved purposes. The College President or the Director of Marketing and Public Relations will be contacted for approval prior to the Seal being used.

The Board of Trustees is encouraged to use the College logo for general purposes, including stationery, to better communicate our brand to the public. However, when situations dictate, use of the College Seal by the Board of Trustees Chair is appropriate.

Agriculture

The College logo will be the primary logo for the Agriculture Department. However, because of the uniqueness of the agricultural community, a secondary logo may be used. This logo is the animal brand used by the Ag/Equine faculty to identify or brand college owned livestock. It may also be used in marketing materials, novelties and other Ag/Equine related purposes.

Aggies

The identifier “Aggies” is a common identifier of agriculture at colleges and universities throughout the United States. It should not be used as part of or with the global symbol or logo.

Athletics

The National Junior College Athletic Association recognizes men’s and women’s athletic teams located at the Quad-Cities Campus.

It is not intended that the Athletic logos be used for general marketing and public relations purposes unless otherwise determined by the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. The Athletic logos will be used by Black Hawk College Athletic teams only. They will not be used as a watermark on college letterhead or other promotional materials unless they are promoting Athletics.

Secondary Identifiers

The team name may be added below the Athletics logos as a secondary identifier.
