Black Hawk College Welding Invitational 2019

Black Hawk College is excited to announce the 2nd Annual T-Joint Fillet Weld Invitational and the 1st Annual Two Process Open Butt Groove Weld Invitational!  

The goal of these events is to provide a competitive welding contest in a state-of-the-art welding facility that will give your students an opportunity to test their skills. The contest will be conducted by Mark Washburn, Black Hawk College Welding Program director, who has 35 years of experience in the welding industry.

IMPORTANT: All participants MUST submit a Photo Release and Waiver prior to the contest. Email these documents to Kelly Craig at Participants who want to compete in both events must register for each invitational individually.

Schedule: Check-in will be from 8:30-9 a.m. at the Community Education Center in downtown Kewanee, located directly across from the Welding and Skilled Trades Center. The contest will start at 9 a.m. at the Welding and Skilled Trades Center. It will end at 1 p.m. with a luncheon and awards ceremony from 1-2 p.m. at the Community Education Center.

Rules and registration: The contests will be limited to the first 75 students. Schools are encouraged to bring a team or individuals to compete. A team will consist of five members for the Fillet Weld and four members for Groove Weld, with the top three individual scores counting toward the overall team score. Awards will be provided to the top three teams and top 10 high overall individuals for each contest.
