Western Way Award

Western Way offers a path for you to get a college degree at WIU tuition-free.

Incoming new students who meet eligibility and renewal requirements are guaranteed to have their tuition costs and mandatory fees paid. The award covers eight consecutive semesters for freshmen and four consecutive semesters for transfer students.

If eligible, you will receive a financial aid package that provides scholarship and grant funding to pay for the full cost of tuition and mandatory campus fees that are not covered by other federal, state, institutional and private awards, including the Federal Pell Grant and the State of Illinois MAP Grant.

A  3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment are required.

IAI Participant

This college or university participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative.

The Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC) is a collection of general education courses that, when completed, an IAI participating institution agrees to accept in place of its own comparable lower-division general education requirements. Completing the IAI GECC works best for students who plan to transfer to an IAI participating school but who have not decided which one.

When the IAI GECC is not completed before transfer, the transfer school will evaluate general education courses on a course-by-course basis.
