The Multicultural and Inclusion Center serves students from underrepresented backgrounds, first-generation students and aspiring business entrepreneurs. We work with students on English as a Second Language skills, academic skills, setting up mentoring relationships, setting up business internships and community development opportunities (also called service learning). The coordinator is part academic advisor, business community liaison and career advisor. The coordinator also is responsible for guiding these students through Black Hawk College to their career or transfer school.

Volunteer for the Multicultural Mentoring Program

The Multicultural and Inclusion Center (MIC) is a student support service established to increase diversity at Black Hawk College via the recruitment and retention of students from diverse backgrounds and the enrichment of campus life through cultural and awareness activities, creating an environment where all students feel welcome, heard and understood.

The MIC accomplishes this goal through facilitating multicultural education training, providing leadership, developing a comprehensive mentoring program to assist new students each semester, community outreach, academic advisement, maintaining relationships with Quad-Cities organizations and diversity club participation.

The MIC operates under the principle that every person’s unique life experiences enrich campus life and adds a profound element to a true education.
