Illinois Residents:

 1-800-QUIT-YES: The Illinois Tobacco Quitline is a FREE resource for tobacco users who want to quit for good. Registered nurses, respiratory therapists, and certified tobacco-treatment counselors are on call 7 days a week, 7AM-11PM to answer all your tobacco-related questions and provide the support you need to break the habit.

www.QuitYes.org gives information on what to do if you’re just thinking about quitting, the different ways you could quit, tools to help you quit, and resources to help you quit for good.

Illinois Department of Public Health

Smokefree.gov provides free, accurate, evidence-based information and professional assistance to help support the immediate and long-term needs of people trying to quit smoking.

Iowa Residents:

 1-800-QUIT-NOW: Expert Quit Coaches and Registration Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week(excluding Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Independence Day). You can call a toll-free support line anytime you need additional information or support.

A Quit Coach® will help you become an expert in living without tobacco using “The 4 Essential Practices to Quit For Life,” based on 25 years of research and experience helping people quit tobacco.

1-800-LUNG-USA: A Lung Helpline and Tobacco Quitline from the American Lung Association. Registered nurses, respiratory therapists, certified tobacco treatment specialists and counselors make up our helpline staff. They are ready to assist with your lung health questions. Get detailed and accurate information about lung cancer, asthma, COPD, quitting tobacco and multiple other lung health topics.


Smoking Cessation Programs:

Local, In Person Program:
American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking: This is a 6 week (7 session) smoking cessation workshop lead by a trained counselor. Start dates will be available starting in September. Sessions will be hosted at different times on both BHC campuses and is available for both BHC students and employees. Check back here for more information and the registration link soon!

Online Course Smoking Cessation Program:
Freedom From Smoking ONLINE is an interactive course designed to educate and modify the behavior patterns of smokers. It can be accessed day or night, seven days a week, on any schedule the participant chooses. The online program is based on developing positive behavior change, building a support network and focusing on effective relaxation and weight-loss strategies after quitting.
