(Ages 12 – 15) Create your own games and play against your computer. You will use GameMaker to create graphic-oriented computer games. Learn the objects needed to create games, such as sprites, behaviors, sound, and collision detection. Concepts will be covered and introduced in an easy format as the class moves quickly.

Clay on the Potter’s Wheel
Instructor: D. McMullen
(Ages 8 – 14) Have fun learning basic wheel-throwing techniques. Work on the potter’s wheel and create projects using low-fire clay and stoneware clay. Projects will be finished with acrylic paints and a glaze. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first session.

(Ages 11 – 16) This clinic will teach students the responsibilities of a babysitter, what parents expect, how to handle emergencies, caring for and handling infants and young children, feeding techniques and diapering, age-appropriate toys and activities, tips for bedtime issues and much more! Students will learn basic first aid and how to handle emergencies that arise such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents. As babysitting will be many students’ first job, interviewing also will be reviewed. Preregistration is required. Sorry, walk-ins are not allowed. Students need to bring their own sack lunch and snack. Certificate will be awarded upon completion.

Safety First – Home Alone

(Ages 10-14) It is a big responsibility to stay home alone. Are you ready? This fun and interactive class will focus on internet safety, accident prevention, basic first aid skills, weather, sibling relationships, and how to handle emergencies and create a plan.

(Ages 10 – 15) Do you love taking photos with your smartphone but could use some help taking it to the next level? This hands-on class will teach you the advanced photo functions of your camera phone and how to frame photos without all the guesswork! You will learn about the basics of photography and how it applies to smartphones, proper focus and exposure, how to overcome tricky lighting situations, photo editing for quality, and organizing and preserving your photos.
Students must bring a charged smartphone to class, a sack lunch and a snack.

WeDo Lego Robotics

(Entering grades 1-2) This class is designed to be a student’s first exposure to robotics. Student partners will build playful motorized creations using the Lego WeDo Robotic system. Working in pairs, students will build and learn beginning block programming to make the creations come to life!

(Entering grades 6 – 8) This class is an exploration in building and programming robots using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotics System. Students will build a variety of robots and program them with a computer to move, spin, and much more in order to solve challenges. Students will work in pairs and small teams, sharing a robotics kit and computer. This class is good preparation for students interested in robotics competitions or even for students who enjoy LEGOS and are looking for a new and exciting way to explore with them.
