Enter the Northwest door to Bldg. 3. Take an immediate left down the stairs to the bottom floor. At the bottom floor, turn left and enter through the 2nd set of doors on the right. The lower gym is located in the middle of the track (second door on the right–next to the weight room.)
5K Your Way!

Walkers, joggers and runners welcome! Join us as we help you to develop an individualized plan to walk, jog or run a 5K, whether it is your first 5K or 50th! Our experienced instructor can help you build the stamina to complete a 5K and/or help you structure a plan to improve your time. This course will cover pre- and post-workout stretching as well as how to deal with typical exercise injuries. Class will meet at the outdoor track at Black Hawk College (weather-permitting) as well as the indoor track. The course fee will include your registration fee for the Saturday, Nov. 11 Black Hawk College 5K Hustle – For the Hill of It.

Beginning Ballroom Dancing
Learn (or review) the basics in traditional smooth dances – Foxtrot and Waltz as well as Swing and Rumba. You’ve seen the dances on TV – now it’s your turn! Be prepared to step out onto the dance floor at weddings, parties and other social events. Instruction includes lead/follow, music identification and styling. Intermediate dancers are welcome. Bring soft-soled shoes to preserve our floor.

Zumba – Find Your Way to Fun and Fitness

Combine motivating music and high energy with unique moves and combinations that allow you to dance away your worries. It is fun, easy and can be done at your own level. The music will move from today’s songs to Latin and international. Routines will feature aerobic/fitness with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.

For centuries, this dance has been used to maintain good health for the mind, body and spirit. You will be introduced to the basic principles of belly dance, as well as some more advanced movements, giving the knowledge to create your own routines whether for performance or a fun workout at home. This class is welcoming to all shapes and sizes. Wear comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement.

Introduction to Hoop Dance

Everyone loves hooping! Want a great workout while having a lot of FUN? Come join us as we burn more than 400 calories while having a great time. We welcome all shapes, sizes, skill levels and ages (16 and up) to join us for Hoop Dance fun! Hoop Dance is no-impact to low impact and no prior hooping experience is necessary as the classes and movements can be scaled to every level. A $10 usage fee is due to the instructor the first class. If you would like to purchase a hoop, you can do so by paying the instructor $30 instead.

Bring your body and mind together into one harmonious experience. Improve your breathing capacity and increase your flexibility and strength through a focus on traditional yoga poses, breath work, balance and relaxation. All levels are welcome. Bring a yoga mat or a large towel and dress in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
