The certificate program is basically designed for persons presently employed in the criminal justice system. Many people now working in that field received no formal training for their job, and this certificate program is designed to provide them with the basic skills necessary to perform their jobs.
Those interested in a four-year bachelor’s degree should enroll in the Associate in Science degree program and complete suggested coursework in Criminal Justice in the Transfer Programs section of this catalog.
Gainful employment is one important measure that students and parents should pay attention to as they examine colleges and programs. All non-degree programs must be designed to lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation in order to be deemed eligible for federal student aid. These programs are generally less than 2 years in length and result in a certificate.
