Creations with Clay

Explore your creativity with clay. This class is for the beginner who wants to learn to create projects with clay. You will be introduced to the basics of working on the Potter’s wheel and create hand built projects using stoneware clay. Color slips are available, and projects will be finished using a glaze. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor the first night of class.

Pattern Reading for Crocheting
Learn the basics of pattern reading for crocheting in this workshop, including terminology, symbols and how to interpret instructions. Bring yarn and a hook (any size) to class as we take a hands-on approach to learning.

Paint Your Home, Barn or Favorite Building in Watercolor
Instructor: T. Hempel
Prerequisite: Techniques and Tips in Watercolor – Beginners or previous watercolor experience.
Bring a photo of a home, barn, or other favorite building and create a unique painting for yourself or a friend as a gift. For instructional purpose, take the photo on a sunny day with the sun at your back. Bring to class a kneaded eraser, a 140 lb. cold press watercolor sketchbook, a set of six basic watercolors and three brushes.

Drawing the Face – Creating Self –Portraits/Portraits
Instructor: A. Martin
You will learn how to create a self-portrait/portrait. The first few classes will focus on different facial features and the shape of the head. Through learning about light, shading and the correct placement of all the facial features, you will create a unique piece of art. Bring two #2 pencils, a white hi-polymer eraser, an 11”x 8.5”sketchpad with spiral binding on the side, a photo of yourself or the person you are wanting to draw, and a mirror.

Watercolor Painting – Reflections, Shadows, Puddles and Other Techniques
Instructor: T. Hempel
Prerequisite: Techniques and Tips in Watercolor for Beginners or previous watercolor experience.
This fun class can be taken as a refresher course or as a follow-up to Techniques and Tips in Watercolor for Beginners. You will learn to fine tune your watercolor skills while delving deeper into painting reflections, the sky, clouds, shadows and shading. Bring to class a kneaded eraser, a 140 lb cold press watercolor sketchbook, a set of six basic watercolors and 3 brushes.
