DESCRIPTION:Feed the Hawk to help our students! \nHelp fill the cupboards in the college food pantries with food and hygiene products Wednesday\, Oct. 15 through Sunday\, Nov. 30 by donating at any BHC location! \nAdult Learning Center\n\nLobby\n\nCommunity Education Center\n\nLobby\n\nEast Campus\n\nBuilding A\, Room 130\, library\nBuilding B\, science wing\, lobby\nBuilding 7 (Ag Arena)\, outside faculty offices\nVeterinary Sciences Center\, lobby\n\nOutreach Center\n\nRoom 202\n\nQuad-Cities Campus\n\nBuilding 1\, upper lobby\, Welcome Desk\nBuilding 2\, lower lobby\nBuilding 3\, Room 322\, Police Department\nHealth Sciences Center\, main floor\, lobby\n\nItems needed\n\nConvenience foods\nNon-refrigerated microwavable meals\nPeanut butter and jelly\nMac ‘n’ cheese\nSoups\nGranola bars\nSnacks\nHygiene products such deodorant\, shampoo\, shower gel and toilet paper\n\nAll items will stay at their respective donation locations to benefit BHC students at those locations. \nMore info\nWant to donate money or gift cards or have questions? SUMMARY:Robin Moreland Memorial Ranch Series
DESCRIPTION:The Black Hawk College Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Western Equestrian Team is excited to host the Robin Moreland Memorial Ranch Series on Saturday\, Oct. 18 and Saturday\, Nov. 15 in the Ag Arena at the East Campus. \nPlease note – \n\nEarly arrival is Friday after 4 p.m.\nTrail course set for schooling Friday at 6 p.m.\nArena opens Saturday at 6 a.m.\nArena closes Saturday at 8:30 a.m. to drag and reset the course.\nStart time is 9 a.m.\n\nHi Point Buckles\nAwarded to the highest point earner in each division – Novice\, Walk/Trot\, Youth\, Adult and Select. Exhibitors must attend both shows to be eligible. \nSpecial Events\n\nTeam Ranch Riding – Oct. 18 – $25\n\nPartners will be drawn at random.\nRider 1 will ride the first half of the pattern on their own horse.\nRider 2 will ride the second half of the pattern on their own horse.\nThe highest-scoring team wins the class. \n\nRanch Challenge – Nov. 15 – $25\n\nExhibitors will compete in the Ranch Confirmation and Working Western Rail\, staying in the arena while tacking for the riding portion.\nPrize goes to the first person mounted. \nDetails\n\nNovice classes – Intended for riders who have competed in ranch events for less than one year.\nHeel-O-Matic Heading – Each contestant gets three loops to accumulate the most points. High point ropers may participate in a rope-off.\nHaul-in fee – $20 per horse. Haul-in fee waived for stalled horses.\nStalls – $45. Must reserve online. One bag of shavings included. Additional shavings – $8 per bag.\nAll events are open to the public.\n\nFor more information\, contact Rebekah Irish at 309-854-1838 or irishr@bhc.edu. \n\nAbout the Robin Moreland Memorial Ranch Series\nThe series is a fundraiser for the IHSA Western Equestrian Team with a portion of the proceeds going to the Robin Moreland Endowed Equine Scholarship. \nRobin managed the BHC barn and horse herd for many years. She was a knowledgeable horsewoman who modeled strength and kindness while educating and developing students in the equestrian program.
