Coronavirus information and resources

Black Hawk College is monitoring the coronavirus – COVID-19 – outbreak and will provide updates on this page.

March 27, 2020

Black Hawk College employees and students are all adapting to the changing realities brought about by COVID-19. We have seen communities come together attempting to “flatten the curve” and reduce the spread of the virus. I urge each of you to continue to do your part to stay healthy and safe.

I want to thank you, our students. I know this has not been easy, and for many, the quick transition to online classes was a jolt. But our goal is to continue to deliver the highest-quality instruction possible given the circumstances. It is my belief we are doing our best in that regard.

In previous letters, I have shared what we know about the situation and the actions the college is taking. As I have mentioned, Spring classes will continue in an online format for the remainder of the term and, sadly, commencement as has been previously celebrated, has been canceled.

Registration for Summer and Fall classes will open April 7, and we encourage you to review the class schedules. All Summer classes will be delivered in an online format.

As we look to the future, we will offer Fall classes in person and online. However, as we maintain an optimistic outlook we want to be responsible and plan to adjust as needed given the uncertainty of the situation. If necessary, we are prepared to move in-person classes to an online format.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding during this time. Your education is our top priority and we will continue to monitor the situation and do what we can to ensure it is the highest quality possible. Please continue to monitor the coronavirus page and myBlackHawk announcements for updates and information as they become available.

Sincerely,
Tim Wynes, J.D.
