The BHC Aquatic Center will be closed until May 12 and all classes are cancelled.
Aquatic exercise instructors guide participants to perform planned specific movements in the water, generally in an upright position. The water’s buffering ability allows this type of exercise to provide a protective cushioning that minimizes impact compared to land based exercise. Therefore, participants who might avoid other types of exercise due to impact effects on their joints can comfortably perform aquatic exercise to help them live a healthier lifestyle.
Water also provides at least 12 times the resistance of air. Moving the legs and arms under the water will help to promote muscular strength and endurance, as well as flexibility.
