General Application for New Students
It’s easy to get started at BHC so take your first step by submitting your application online now. You’ll be asked to create an account if you haven’t attended BHC before. Additional questions will be asked about your academic history, intended start date, program of study and demographic information.
When you are ready to submit your application, please have a debit or credit card available for the nonrefundable $20 application fee at the end of the application.

Health Science Students
New students applying to Black Hawk College should select the AAS/General Occupational and Technical Studies (GOTS) if they plan to later apply to these programs, which have selective admission requirements:
Returning Students
If you’ve been away from Black Hawk College more than two years, you must reapply.
Guest Students
If you’re enrolled at another college and plan to take summer, online or minimester credit classes, choose NDS-TRANSFER for Program of Study on the application.
High School Students
If you are in high school and plan to take dual credit classes, or if you will be dual enrolled in both high school and college, you must apply to be a BHC student before you can register.
Note: Dual credit students must reapply as a new student if attending after high school graduation.
International Students
There is a separate application process for international students.
Open Door Policy
Black Hawk College has an open door admission policy for anyone who is:
- A high school graduate, has a GED® certificate OR demonstrates college readiness
- At least 18 years old
- A transfer student from another college or university
Continuing Education
For professional development training, GED® classes, bus trips, youth programs and more, take advantage of our non-credit programs and classes for all ages.
