Enrollment Services

Evaluation and Acceptance of Prior Credit

An official transcript must be sent directly from all colleges to Black Hawk College if the student wants to use previous college coursework for course placement, financial aid or credit transfer. All transcripts become the official property of Black Hawk College and will not be returned or issued to another institution. An evaluation of transfer credit will be conducted upon admission to the college and will be based on the current declared program of study.

Academic credit is generally accepted only from institutions that are accredited by one of the regional accrediting associations. Credit from sources other than regionally accredited associations must be approved by the appropriate department chair and/or dean. Official transcripts may be ordered from prior schools and sent digitally to registrar@bhc.edu.

Ordering Black Hawk College Transcripts

Black Hawk College has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide transcript ordering via the web. There is a minimal processing fee associated with the transcript order. Provide a major credit or debit card when placing your order. Your card will only be charged after your request is complete.

To update your address in our student database, send an email using your myBlackHawk email account to registrar@bhc.edu.

To order an official BHC transcript:

  • Log in to the Clearinghouse secure site.
  • The site will go through placing your order, including delivery options and fees. Order as many transcripts as you like in a single session. A processing fee will be charged per recipient.
  • Order updates will be emailed to you. Track your order online.

When placing an online transcript request, remember that all requests will be filled in the order in which they are received the next business day.

Graduation and Commencement

All graduates must complete the Black Hawk College Graduation Application. Financial obligations to BHC must be fulfilled before your diploma or transcripts will be issued.

Download the current graduation application.

Diplomas will be mailed to spring graduates approximately 6-8 weeks after the last date of the term in which academic work was completed.

The graduation date for summer candidates is in July. However, certain programs have a completion date in August and in these cases, the last date of academic work will be used as students’ graduation date. Students with degree completion dates after the start of the fall semester will have graduation dates in December.
