BHC, UT students come together for talent, fashion show

BHC student Santiago Flores won 1st place in the Multicultural Talent Show.

Black Hawk College and United Township High School students recently came together to perform and compete in a Multicultural Talent and Fashion Show at Black Hawk College.

Participants represented more than a dozen countries, including Belgium, Chile, the Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Eritrea, Ghana, Iran, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Peru, Rwanda, Sudan, Thailand, Togo and the United States. The talent show featured 12 competitors, and 30 students modeled their traditional clothing in the fashion show.

The winners were:

  • 1st place ($1,000) – BHC student Santiago Flores from the U.S. and of Mexican descent. Talent – singing and playing guitar.
  • 2nd place ($500) – BHC student Chantal Nabageni from the Republic of the Congo. Talent – singing.
  • 3rd place ($200) – UTHS student Namiah Aiello from the U.S. and of Italian, Filipino, Turkish, Puerto Rican and Native American descent. Talent – singing and playing guitar.
  • 1st place in the fashion show – UTHS student Rose Zing from Myanmar.
