BHC artists win awards in 2022 Student Art Exhibition

Seven Black Hawk College students recently were honored for their artistic talent in the annual Student Art Exhibition.

The juried competition garnered more than 50 entries with 22 pieces selected for the show.

Alondra Alegre of Moline won Best in Show for her charcoal and white pastel drawing, “Luna de Media Noche.”

The other winners are:

  • Second place – Mya Diabira of Bettendorf – “Osmans” – acrylic painting
  • Third place – Shakira’a Gbenyo of Milan – “Drowning” – acrylic painting
  • Honorable mentions –
    • Ella Crockett of Atkinson – “Confused Climate” – watercolor and pen
    • Brooke Gatter of Geneseo – “Freedom > Power” – bullet shells, paper and fake sunflowers
    • Nolan Raymond of Rock Island – “Ecstasy” – assemblage
    • Koby Brooks of Prophetstown – “Big Bear Farm” – digital composite

The exhibit is on display through Friday, May 13 in the ArtSpace Gallery on the first floor of Building 4 at the Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.
