Ten reasons to attend Black Hawk College

Celebrate BHC during Community College MonthApril is Community College Month!

Help us celebrate the month by checking out 10 reasons why Black Hawk College is a great choice for your education.

  1. Affordable. Tuition is very economical. We recently announced tuition costs will remain the same for the fifth straight year. Black Hawk also offers resources to help make paying for college as easy as possible.
  2. Flexible. We have multiple start dates throughout the year. You can start studying whenever you are ready and take classes at a pace that works for you.
  3. Close to home. You don’t need to move to get started on your college education. Our locations and online offerings make college convenient.
  4. Small class sizes. At Black Hawk, small class sizes mean you can get to know your instructors and classmates. Our average class size is just 17 students.
  5. Great instructors. Learn from instructors who are passionate about their subjects and helping students succeed.
  6. Caring advisors. Educational advisors help you develop a program of study that is right for you. You’ll meet with your advisor before registering each semester.
  7. Activities. Have fun and build your résumé while at Black Hawk. Student Life offers events and opportunities, and there are student clubs and organizations to join, too.
  8. Transfer options. If you eventually want a bachelor’s degree, Black Hawk is a great place to be. We have transfer planning guides and agreements with four-year colleges.
  9. Career programs. Black Hawk’s career and technical education (CTE) programs also offer great options. Prepare for immediate employment in a field that interests you.
  10. Student support. Advising, career services, counseling and tutoring are some of the many resources available for students. We are here to support you during every step of your journey.
