BHC artists win awards in Student Art Exhibition – Spring 2021

Seven Black Hawk College students recently were honored for their artistic talent in the annual Student Art Exhibition.

The juried competition garnered 35 entries with 17 pieces selected for the show.

The other winners are:

  • Second place – Abigail Kongkousonh of East Moline – “Self-Portrait with Skeleton” – charcoal and collage
  • Third place – Olivia Bizub of Moline – “Between Two” – wood carving block with acrylic paint and matte top coat
  • Honorable mentions –
    • Lillian Smith of Rock Island – “Shape in the Shadows” – charcoal and gesso on wallpaper
    • Jacob Johnson of Orion – “Internal Struggle” – charcoal drawing
    • Karissa Collis of Orion – “Hungry Humans Set” – high-fire stoneware
    • Ella Crockett of Atkinson – “Confused Climate” – watercolor pen and ink

The exhibit is on display through Friday, May 14 in the ArtSpace Gallery on the first floor of Building 4 at the Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.
