Students now can start the Black Hawk College Medical Assisting program in January.
The 30-credit-hour program has online lectures with daytime clinical courses. The entire program can be completed in one calendar year.
Medical assistants work under the supervision of a physician and perform medical office administration and clinical duties. Students gain practical experience by completing two clinical courses plus an internship and seminar.
Students take courses in basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, health insurance and office procedures, pharmacology terminology and calculations, and ethics and law.
Spring 2021 classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 19.
