Students share native dishes at 4th International Food Competition

dishes with foodBHC students recently participated in the English as a Second Language Mentor and Mentee Program’s 4th Annual International Food Competition at the Quad-Cities Campus.

International and U.S. students prepared 17 dishes from 14 countries – Bolivia, Chin State (Myanmar/Burma), Germany, Hungary, India, Iraq, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Togo, the United States and Venezuela.

Chefs Christine Immich Rodrigues, Deanna Marie of Cafe d’Marie, and Rhea Vrana and Armando Ruiz of Fat Sacks selected the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners based on taste, creativity and presentation.

The winners were:

  • 1st place – Eva Mawi (middle) – dish from the Chin State
  • 2nd place – Nimisha Bhate (left) – dish from India
  • 3rd place – Carolina Hernandez (right) – dish from Mexico
