BHC golfers wrap up successful season

Congratulations to the Black Hawk College men’s golf team for finishing sixth out of 21 teams at the 2019 NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship!

Rielly McGranahan tied for 12th place. Players who finish in the Top 26 at the NJCAA tournament earn the NJCAA All-American Award. McGranahan is the 11th BHC golfer to receive the All-American Award since 1997.

The Braves qualified for the national tournament in Fall 2018 after winning the Region IV Championship, the 23rd regional title for Black Hawk College.

At that tournament, the BHC golfers set a Region IV record with a score of 869, breaking the old tournament record of 901 set in Fall 2017 by the previous BHC golf team.

Here are the golfers’ individual results from the Fall 2018 Region IV Championship:

  • Medalist – Rielly McGranahan of DeWitt, IA – 210
  • 2nd Place – Eric Spurgetis of Moline – 219
  • 6th Place – Jeffrey Perez of Rock Island – 221
  • 8th Place – Aaron Willie of Davenport, IA – 222

In Spring 2019, the BHC golf team won its 34th Arrowhead Conference Championship with Braves players claiming six of the 12 All-Conference spots.

The Black Hawk College All-Conference golfers are:

  • 3rd Place – Eric Spurgetis of Moline
  • 5th Place – Isaac Boore of East Moline
  • Tied for 6th Place – Mick Haverland of Geneseo
  • Tied for 8th Place – Shayne Shepherd of Eldridge, IA
  • 10th Place – Aaron Willie of Davenport, IA
