BHC freshmen win first two horse judging contests

11 horse judging students in a lineCongratulations to Black Hawk College freshmen horse judging students for winning their first two contests!

Awards are presented to the Top 5 teams and the Top 10 individuals overall and in each category (halter, performance and reasons).

At the Spring Contest in Oklahoma City, OK, two BHC teams competed against more than 20 teams from two-year and four-year schools. BHC Team A took 1st place overall and Team B took 5th place.

In the individual competitions, the BHC freshmen placed as follows:

  • Elena Chapa, Maple Park, IL – 1st overall, 1st in Performance, 1st in Reasons
  • Josh Worten, Lake Butler, FL – 3rd overall, 9th in Halter, tied for 10th in Performance, 6th in Reasons
  • McKenna Lindsey, Mackinaw, IL – 6th overall, tied for 10th in Performance, 2nd in Reasons
  • Bailey Wight, Bloomington, IL – 3rd in Performance, 8th in Reasons
  • Grace Wolfington, Sheboygan, WI – 9th in Reasons

In the two-year/junior college division at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference in Murray, KY, the BHC freshmen placed as follows:
