BHC artists win awards in Student Art Exhibition

man standing in front of paintingSix Black Hawk College students recently were honored for their artistic talent in the annual Student Art Exhibition.

The juried competition garnered 45 entries with 24 pieces selected for the show.

Paul Lacefield of East Moline (pictured) won first place with his acrylic painting, “Raspberry Beret.”

The other winners are:

  • Second place – Elizabeth Brennan of Rock Island – “Fruit ‘n Flowers” – acrylic painting
  • Third place – Ethan Gentry of Geneseo – “Mikala” – watercolor
  • Honorable mentions –
    • Paul Lacefield of East Moline – “Friday Nights” – photo manipulation
    • Aaron O’Hern of Moline – “Sunken Tree” – soft pastel
    • Tyler Palmer of Rock Island – “Sweeping Form” – mahogany, aspen and copper
    • Corey Smith of Rock Island – “Solitude” – photography

The exhibit is on display through Friday, May 10 in the ArtSpace Gallery on the first floor of Building 4 at the Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.
