A personalized transfer plan for you

We hear that a lot, and are here to help! No matter what you plan on studying, advising can help you tailor your BHC degree to meet your needs.

During your time at Black Hawk College, you can the take introductory and required pre-requisite courses you will need to include in a four-year degree.

General education courses are not one-size-fits-all, making it important for you to select your courses strategically.

If you are interested in majoring in business and your friend is focused on criminal justice, for example, your course choices will vary greatly to reflect those differences.

Luckily, we have a team of friendly advisors to help you make a plan, as well as some great online resources.

Kyle Stover, of Cordova, transferred to Black Hawk College this semester and will graduate with an Associate in Science in 2020.

Stover recently went to his advising appointment where his advisor showed him the transfer plans available through the website. He appreciated advising’s help.

“They care about getting you on the right track and putting you in the right classes,” he said.

Sample Transfer Plans

Know what you want to study, but not certain on where you want to go quite yet? Find a BHC Sample Transfer Plan to start on your gen eds and transfer major courses.

  • All Sample Transfer Plans include the general education core required for your BHC Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree.
  • A Sample Transfer Plan suggests courses appropriate for your transfer major.
  • If you haven’t decided on a transfer school, the Sample Transfer Plan can be your guide to completing the AA or AS degree, though selecting a transfer school about halfway through is encouraged.

Explore the Sample Transfer Plans, and get a good feel for what your next semester should look like. If you don’t see your intended major, don’t worry! An advisor can make a similar plan for you.

Once you know which school you want to transfer to, make sure to start using a Transfer Guide instead of a Sample Transfer Plan. If there is not one in place that reflects your transfer school and major, advising can help you get the information you need to have a smooth transfer process.

Transfer Guides and Agreements

BHC students transfer to colleges and universities throughout Illinois and beyond, and advisors are ready to help you with a plan that will let you transfer to the school of your choice.

From accounting to technology management, Black Hawk College even has transfer agreements with numerous four-year colleges and universities in place that you can explore online.

Some of the four-year schools BHC students transfer to are Augustana College, Illinois State University, Kansas State University, Oklahoma State University, Purdue University, St. Ambrose University, University of Illinois, University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa and Western Illinois University.

Registration for summer and fall semester courses opens on April 2, 2019, making now the perfect time to make an advising appointment and explore your options.

Summer classes start June 3 and July 1, and the Fall 2019 semester begins on Aug. 19, 2019.
