The Black Hawk College East Foundation has two $500 scholarships available for students enrolling in the March 18 Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program at the BHC Community Education Center in downtown Kewanee.
The eight-week program trains students to work as certified nursing assistants (CNAs) to assist nurses in direct patient care. The program includes 80 hours in the classroom and 40 hours of clinical training.
Because the CNA program does not qualify for traditional financial aid, the BHC East Foundation uses private support to make the program more affordable and accessible.
The scholarships available are the BHC East Foundation CNA Scholarship and the Barbara J. Curran Golby Memorial CNA Scholarship. Golby was a nurse in the Kewanee area for nearly 50 years and spent the last 10 years of her career teaching CNA students at the college’s East Campus.
The application deadline is Monday, March 11.
