Black Hawk College students recently volunteered to network and install software on 50 refurbished computers donated to Quad Cities Christian School.
The Black Hawk College IT Society (BITS) sponsored the event. A group of 15 students in the college’s Computer Information Technology program, along with instructors Jamie Hill and Don Mosier, spent four hours on a Saturday working on the equipment in the school’s computer lab.
The 25 laptop and 25 desktop computers were donated by John Deere to the school’s junior and senior high campus in Moline.
The BHC students renamed and labeled the PCs, set up their network configuration and user accounts, and connected them to the network printer. They also removed the old machines, cleaned the tables, and helped haul the old equipment to be recycled.
