BHC golf team wins third straight Region IV Championship, shatters its own records

Congratulations to the Black Hawk College men’s golf team for winning the 2018 NJCAA Region IV Championship! This marks the third straight year the team has claimed this title and the 14th in the past 20 years.

The BHC team score was 869, shattering the Region IV tournament record set last year by the Braves by 32 strokes.

In addition, freshman Rielly McGranahan shot a record-setting 210 to claim the top individual spot. He beat the previous record set by BHC player Ryan Schlueter in 2010 by eight strokes.

Individual golfers’ results were:

  • Medalist – Rielly McGranahan (DeWitt IA Central High School)
  • 2nd Place – Eric Spurgetis (Moline IL High School)
  • 6th Place – Jeff Perez (Rock Island IL High School)
  • 8th Place – Aaron Willie (Davenport IA West High School)

The team will compete May 18-24 at the 2019 NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship in Plymouth, IN.

The team is coached by Gary Huber with assistant coaches Mark Grchan, Wes Llewellyn and Butch Haverland.
