Congratulations to Kyle Hunter of La Moille, IL, the inaugural recipient of Wyffels Hybrids’ new Scholarship and Work Program in coordination with Black Hawk College.

Hunter is a first-year agribusiness major at the East Campus. He will receive a $500 scholarship for each semester he remains in good standing and re-applies for the scholarship.

“We are pleased to support students who have a passion for agriculture and help them continue their education at Black Hawk College,” said Tracey Kmetz, Wyffels human resources manager.

In Spring 2019, two more scholarships will be presented to high school seniors or college students pursuing a two-year degree at BHC in either agribusiness management or agriculture production.

Scholarships are available to students who live in the Black Hawk College district and will be awarded based on achievement, demonstration of community and school involvement, knowledge of agriculture and the perceived ability to contribute to agriculture in the future.

Recipients will be required to work at Wyffels in the Research or Production departments during semester breaks and during the summer between semesters.

The deadline for Spring 2019 scholarship applications is Friday, Nov. 2. For an application, contact Tracey Kmetz at tkmetz@wyffels.com or 309-945-0718 or go to www.wyffels.com/scholarship.
