Three Black Hawk students recently received awards from the Illinois Community College Journalism Association for their work on the student newspaper, The Chieftain, from Jan. 1, 2017 to Dec. 31, 2017.
Logan Raschke of Geneseo and Elodie Bouwens of Geneseo placed second in the Editorial Writer of the Year award in the Open division.
Bouwens also received second place awards in the Feature Writing and Staff Editorial categories.
Matthew Hayes of Erie won second place in the News Photo category.
Raschke also received an honorable mention in the Editorial Cartoon category.
