Students share native dishes in International Food Competition

BHC international students recently participated in the English as a Second Language Mentor and Mentee Program’s 2nd Annual International Food Competition at the Quad-Cities Campus.

Students and their mentors prepared dishes from their home countries, including Eritrea, Ghana, India, Karen State, Mexico, Myanmar, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Togo and the United States. Fifteen countries were represented with 23 participants.

A panel of judges selected the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners with judging based on taste, creativity and presentation.

The winners were:

  • 1st place – Komlan Adossi – dish from Togo
  • 2nd place – Victoria Torres – dish from Mexico/Puerto Rico
  • 3rd place – Karen Dugan – dish from Mexico
  • Fan favorite – Bernice Gunaseelan – dish from India
