Congratulations to Black Hawk College horse judging students for winning the American Paint Horse Association’s Horse IQ World Championship Judging Contest in Fort Worth, Texas!
The Sept. 22 event was the first national fall contest for the BHC Horse Judging Team. Students competed against 25 two-year and four-year schools to vie for first place.
Contestants were evaluated on their ability to judge halter and performance classes, and present reasons. Prizes were awarded for overall winners as well as for top scores for halter, performance and reasons.
The top five teams and top 10 individuals received awards.
Black Hawk College Team A took first place, and Black Hawk College Team B took fifth place. In the individual competition, BHC’s Ryleigh Semanchik placed first overall and Kinsey Ayres placed fourth overall.
The other BHC students who competed were Ezequiel Bustamante, Courtney Coffman, Grayson Cottrell, Jamie Frank, Curtis Howerton, Addie Shotts and Courtney Wiedenmann. They are coached by Aaron Callahan.
