Interested in working in highway construction?
A new session of the Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) begins Monday, Aug. 14.
The 13-week class aims to increase the number of minorities, women and disadvantaged individuals working on Illinois Department of Transportation projects.
Eligible candidates must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma or GED, have a valid driver’s license, be interested in the construction trades, and be drug-free. There is no cost to participants who are accepted into the program.
The 450-hour program meets 36-40 hours a week and covers math, job/life skills, blueprint reading, OSHA, stick welding, construction equipment operation, shop time and hands-on projects.
Interested students must attend one of these orientation sessions:
- Tuesday, June 27 at 10 a.m.
- Wednesday, June 28 at 2 p.m.
- Thursday, June 29 at 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 11 at 10 a.m.
- Wednesday, July 12 at 2 p.m.
The HCCTP is funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
