Black Hawk College baseball coach Arnie Chavera notched his 400th win Saturday, April 1 when the Braves beat Highland Community College 7-2.
Coach Chavera is in his 13th year as head coach of the Braves. The team currently is 12-3.
In 12 years at Black Hawk College, Chavera has led the Braves to the Arrowhead Conference Championship on nine occasions while receiving the Conference Coach of the Year award in each of those seasons.
Along with conference champions, the 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 teams also were the NJCAA Region IV Sectional Champions.
The Braves baseball program has won conference titles in 13 of the past 18 years with 25 total.
In 2015, the Braves baseball team earned an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Award with a 3.26 cumulative team GPA. In 2016, the Braves had a team GPA of 3.13.
Chavera serves as the Arrowhead Athletic Conference baseball chair and the NJCAA Region IV Division II baseball chair.
