BHC artists win awards in Student Art Exhibition

Seven Black Hawk College students recently were honored for their artistic talent in the annual Student Art Exhibition.

The juried competition garnered 60 entries with 39 pieces selected for the show.

Amber Dale of Moline (pictured) won first place with her photograph, “Distress.”

The other winners are:

  • Second place – Nicole Davis of Milan for her body of work entered (photographs and mixed media)
  • Third place – Andy Stallings of Rock Island for “We Want the Air Waves” photo assemblage
  • Honorable mention –
  • Amy Van Fossen of Bettendorf – “Night Light” pastel drawing
  • Andy Stallings of Rock Island – raku vase with copper luster (ceramic)
  • Taylor Neyens of Rock Island – “If Walls Could Talk” digital photo
  • Joanna Specht of Rock Island – untitled sculpture

The exhibit is on display through Thursday, May 11, 2017, in the ArtSpace Gallery on the first floor of Building 4 at the Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.
