BHC horse judging students take 1st, 3rd at Quarter Horse Congress

bhc-sophomores-all-american-quarter-horse-congress-2016The Black Hawk College Horse Judging Team took 1st Place and 3rd Place at the 50th Anniversary All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio.

The collegiate and youth divisions award individual and team high-point awards in halter, performance and oral reasons categories, as well as overall awards. Scores are determined based on the accuracy of contestants’ placings as compared to the placings of a panel of approved judges.

The BHC sophomore Team A came in 1st Place overall with members Amanda Clawson of Branchville, NJ; Brooke Parrish of Elmwood, IL; Shelby Dibling of Butler, IN; Katy Hawkins of Needham, IN; and Kyle VanDerleest of Morrison, IL.

The BHC sophomore Team B came in 3rd Place overall with members Keenan Skudlarek of Sams Valley, OR; Kaylin Duke of Channahon, IL; Elizabeth Seely of Auburn, IN; Samantha Grams of Rockford, IL; and Alyssa Gustus of Orion, IL.

Sophomore Cynthia Venneberg of Geneseo, IL, competed as an individual.

The BHC freshman team came in 1st Place overall in the Youth Division with members Grayson Cottrell of Fairbury, IL; Addie Shotts of Martinsville, IL; and Courtney Wiedenmann of Coal Valley, IL.

The teams are coached by Aaron Callahan and are located at the Black Hawk College East Campus near Kewanee, IL.
