BHC students, employees remove invasive honeysuckle

Invasive plants removal 5-5-16 (cropped)Thirty Black Hawk College students and employees recently spent three hours removing invasive bush honeysuckle from the native woodlands on the college’s Quad-Cities Campus.

The volunteers cleared approximately half an acre on the hillside near Building 1. The invasive shrubs were chipped back into the woodlands.

Removing invasive plants is part of a campus-wide effort to restore native flora and fauna to Black Hawk College.
