The Midwest Agricultural Heritage Museum and Black Hawk College East Campus hosted the 2013 FFA Olympics and Tractor Show Saturday, Feb. 16 in the East Campus ag arena kicking off FFA Week.
FFA members competed in a variety of areas including: stacking straw bales, back hoe operator challenge, Nuts and Bolts timed event, Minute to Win it cookie challenge, teamwork ski race, NASCAR relay race, and an agricultural written exam.
Galva’s team placed 1st and also took the prize of most participants and visitors in attendance. Placing 2nd was Princeton with Sherrard and Annawan finishing third and fourth respectively.
High school students from the AlWood, Annawan, Cambridge, Galva, Orion, Princeton, Sherrard, and Wethersfield school districts competed in the Olympic events.
In the antique tractor show, Best of Show Tractor was awarded to Anthony Strand of rural Kewanee for his Case International I 6 followed by Bennit Kuster’s International F30.
